ImageThe latest 325Ci is no exception and has been enjoying good sales judging by the number I’ve managed to spot being driven down Southall Broadway in London.

The convertible is more than just a coupé with the roof removed. It has a lower waistline, and the windscreen is raked back at a steeper angle making it a sexy beast of a car. The sports model features a host of extras such as sports suspension, 18” M Spoke Alloys, sports seats, M Aerodynamic styling and the impressive M sports steering wheel. It all adds up to an excellent package well worth the extra cash.

The interior has the usual BMW finesse and looks, but the real pleasure is starting up the 2.5 six cylinder, 24 valve engine and hearing it purr. The 325Ci will do 0-62mph in 7.7 seconds and go on to a respectable 138mph. Transmission is silky smooth with a five-speed gearbox, so whether you’re driving in the city or cruising on the motorway, it will take anything you can throw at it in its stride.

A host of optional extras are available to add that special touch. I recommend the satellite navigation system and the Harmon Kardon speakers.

The convertible roof is well insulated with minimal road noise filtering into the cabin and is acceptable for even British winter driving conditions, but come summer you can get the roof down in less than 25 seconds and enjoy the sunshine.
