BritBangla, a national networking association that brings together second and third generation Bengali Professionals, has picked Birmingham to hold its first networking event outside the capital this month.
The London‐based association will be holding a launch event on Sunday 28th February at the award‐winning restaurant Mint Cuisine in Yardley to bring together the talents of the 38,300 Bengali’s living in the West Midlands.
As well as the opportunity to sample the quality cuisine, the evening will include an introduction to BritBangla from the new Midlands team, an opportunity to network amongst working professionals in the Bengali community and live performance from BBC comedian Anil Desai, well known for impersonating over fifty famous people in five minutes.
The London based association which has been running for the last six years has over 1,000 members and promotes the talents and achievements of British Bengalis, one of the youngest and fastest‐growing South Asian communities, and provides a vital network for the ever increasing number of Bengali professionals and entrepreneurs in the UK.
Taryn Khanam, founder of BritBangla explained why the focus on the Midlands was the next step forward: “With more than 54% of Brit‐Bengali’s living in London, all our events to date have been located in the City.
“However with the success of BritBangla and the increase in members from all over the country, the time was right to venture out and as Birmingham is the second‐largest city home to British Bengali communities it was ideal.”
The Birmingham event will act as a launch for the BritBangla presence in the region and will be the first of regular networking opportunities throughout the year. BritBangla is all‐inclusive and actively welcomes membership from anyone who has an interest in the Bengali community.
The evening starts at 6.30pm, tickets for the evening are available NOW and cost £18 if booked online – please email
