Eight leading men and women’s denim brands, including Levis, Diesel, JBrand and Seven for All Mankind have teamed up for the first time with the Pop Artist Stuart Semple, in a creative collaboration that explores the versatility of denim in fashion and art, launching during the busiest week of the London art calendar.

Denim is a way to externalize and broadcast our cultural choices. Through its rich and varied history, and constantly evolving heritage it has always illustrated sub-cultural shifts. Jeans are undoubtedly one of the finest inventions of the modern age having established themselves as a perfect second skin for billions of people worldwide.

Stuart Semple’s artworks on vintage denim pay tribute to the iconic fabric, and he has researched the archives to unearth the key images, motifs and slogans that best represent each brand’s identity. With consumerism and objects of desire as frequent points of reference in Semple’s work, expect a true fashion-art-denim Mash Up. Semple will communicate what denim means to a new fashion generation through this exciting in-store art show.

A new collection of original works will be shown for sale in store from mid October alongside a series of specially created limited edition prints on denim, t-shirt graphics, 8 pairs of handpainted jeans, and a glowing diamond shaped installation. Stuart Semple will also be customizing denim pieces during the Private View.

20% of the sales will go to the charity Refuge, which campaign to stop domestic violence.

Sandra Horley, OBE and chief executive of Refuge, says: "Two women are killed every week by a current or former partner. This is a huge statistic and one that we need to start addressing - and addressing fast if we're to save lives and protect young women in the future.
